A special place in the community is our marae. Why? Because you are able to
make connections with your tupuna also, so you don’t forget who your loved ones
are. Marae’s are so important when there is a time that you celebrate your
birthdays and whanau reunion. It is so important in our community for having

Tangihanga is a sad place to be. When your at a tangi, it is best for you to take off
your shoes at the door, do not eat or drink while the process is about to begin and
do not walk inside while the kaumatua is speaking.
